Not so long ago, getting fitted for a dental crown was time-consuming and messy. The process used to involve several appointments. Your dentist would put a temporary crown on your tooth while an outside lab made a permanent piece. Once the permanent crown was made, you would visit the dentist to have the crown fitted and placed. You might need to go back to the dentist for additional appointments to resolve fitting issues. Dental crowns are used for a variety of reasons, including on back teeth after a root canal or teeth that are broken, chipped, or worn.
Fortunately, there have been many innovations in dental technology that have streamlined the process. Renken Dentistry is always on the cutting edge of technology and efficiency, and we think you’ll be excited about new advancements in dental crowns.
How are one day crowns made?
At our practices, we can create, fit, and place a same day crown. Our CEREC AC laser technology system has reduced the time needed to measure, mill, and finish high-quality white ceramic crowns in minutes. A computer completes the measurements and creates the ceramic crown, which means a more precise outcome. The dental crowns we develop in-house are strong, durable, comfortable, and very long-lasting.
Types of Crowns
There have been many crown types available over the years:
- Metal crowns
- All-ceramic crowns
- All-porcelain crowns
- Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns
- Pressed ceramic crowns, often capped with porcelain
Our one-day ceramic crowns are a favorite amongst patients because they are long-lasting, look natural, take much less time to complete, less prone to chipping, and can even be more affordable.
Make an appointment at one of our locations and we’ll discuss options and help you decide which type of crown is the best for you.
Benefits of Crowns
Dental crowns are permanent fixtures to your teeth, unlike removable dentures. They are able to restore function and aesthetics to your smile, giving you the confidence to smile, eat, talk, and use your mouth normally. Durable ceramic crowns allow patients with various teeth issues to once again have full function of their mouth and it can give confidence to patients that were hiding unsightly teeth.
