Dr. Putman is a Springfield native with a big heart. He attended Sacred Heart-Griffin High School and established a love for giving back from an early age. In 2011 he spent 6 weeks in the Dominican Republic helping to improve the water quality by building/maintaining water filters in rural communities – he hopes to return to the area on a dental mission trip soon. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where he went for Undergrad and Dental School. He graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration in 2013 and went on to finish Dental School in 2017. Throughout his time in dental school, he volunteered at the One World Clinic at Creighton on Thursday evenings to help those who could not afford care otherwise. During fall break of his Senior year of dental school, he visited the Rosebud Native American Reservation in South Dakota volunteering in their clinic to provide emergency care.
Patients describe Dr. Putman as compassionate, attentive, and gentle. He completed a year-long General Practice Residency at University of Nebraska Medical Center following dental school graduation where he treated patients that were at high risk for medical complications and special needs patients that were unable to be treated in a traditional dental setting. He also worked at 2 separate Veterans’ Dental Clinics. During his residency, he realized the joy of working with special needs patients while providing a comfortable and fun environment for both patients and their families. It can be stressful coming into a dental office; Dr. Putman understands the feeling and puts patients at ease. As a skilled professional, Dr. Putman is experienced in surgical procedures and general dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
He recently got a black lab puppy, Dakota. When he’s not at the dental office, Dr. Putman enjoys golf, working on the family farm in Virden, hunting, fishing, playing with Dakota, and following Creighton Basketball.
